I recieved this charm a couple of days ago and I can't keep fiddling with it, it brings me much happiness. I am a Christian who appreciates her Jewish roots. This charm is very sturdy, not hollow. Does not bend and has enough weight to be a beautiful necklace charm. I recommend this charm to ANYONE. It not only symbolizes LIFE but also has a gorgeous look, very different. I love it. This is my favorite necklace, and there have only been maybe 72 hours I've NOT worn it since I got it a couple of months ago. It is comfortable while sleeping (and I'm often the "princess and the pea" type), and it is suitable to wear in the shower because it is made from quality silver (just dry it well and don't try to shampoo it).
This charm is dainty, and the chain is likewise delicate. I really adore that the chain is so thin, as it almost looks as though the "chai" is somehow embedded at the base of my neck. The length of the chain is great, especially for those of us who like to wear modest clothing, as it can still sit prettily above a high neckline. I absolutely disagree with the reviewer who says this is only suitable for a child. I am in my early 20's and by no means "childlike" in size or shape, and people never stop complimenting me on this pendant (worn solely on the provided chain, without other jewelry)... even the people who mistake it for a "pi" sign or a "bow" think it's gorgeous and looks good on me. It's quite clearly a "chai," but not everyone knows what that means.
I'm extremely sensitive, and I have not received any irritation from the pendant or chain, even though I wear them perpetually. The pendant is clearly very high quality, and it is just formed in a lovely way. It is more feminine than many of the "chai" pendants available on the market, especially with the delicateness of the provided chain. I have received a lot of other pendants and chains as gifts, have had a number of things made especially for me by friends who are artists, and I generally have a lot of really nice jewelry... but this is really the only thing I want to wear, most of the time. It's beautiful and makes a statement in a soft way--I feel wonderful when I wear it.
The only thing that would make me more satisfied with the product would be if it had a magnetic closure, as the shorter chain length requires some finagling to do and undo (but once one decides to just wear it all of the time, that's a non-issue!).Very nice piece that is made in the USA!
